‘Panuval.com’ opened its book store here on Sunday. The inauguration of the book store also witnessed the inauguration of ‘Thadagam Hall’, which can be used for programmes pertaining to arts and literature.

Started by three young IT professionals — Amutharasan, Saravanan and Mukunthan —‘Panuval’ has a range of books from various publications covering diverse fields. Located in Tiruvanmiyur, the book store will attract many young readers of different professions, says the trio.

Being voracious readers, the three encountered many difficulties in finding books of their own choice and this lead them to start a website.

Speaking to City Express, Amutharasan, co-founder of the book store said, “In the year 2011, we started the website named ‘panuval.com’ from where a person can get most of the books published in Tamil. Our aim is to ensure that a person should get a book of his/her search without any geographical constraints. We get requests for books even from remote villages and we see this as our success.”

The trio also started an on-line magazine ‘Thadagam’, which covers environment issues, arts and literature. Eventually, the team started their own publishing house in the eponymous of their magazine.

“Till now, we brought out 10 books on the issues such as environment and literature,” said Amutharasan.

The book store was inaugurated by eminent personalities such as educationist Kalyani, writer Prapanchan, former vice-chancellor of Thanjavur Tamil University M Rajendran, artist Trotsky Marudhu and actor Rohini.

While lauding the efforts of the trio, Rajendran said, “Books are the only instruments that help us to keep our memories alive.”

Writer Prapanchan, who named the book store ‘Panuval’, in his address, stressed the  importance of reading

The book store will be open on all days between 11 am and 9 pm.
