In a bid to check unauthorised construction in the city, Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority’s (CMDA) on Monday locked and sealed a portion of a building under construction in Madipakkam for violating Sections 56 and 57 of the Town and Country Planning Act, 1971.
CMDA said the building on the Madipakkam main road in Ram Nagar Extension was sealed after the owner failed to comply with stop work notice issued on June 26.
As a result, a lock and seal notice was issued on July 19. Since the owner did not comply with the notice, the unauthorised floor of the building was locked and sealed.
