2 more pimps held in minor's rape

The police on Tuesday arrested the remaining three accused, including two woman pimps, for forcing a 14-year-old girl from Vyasarpadi into prostitution with the apparent support of her mother.

The police on Tuesday arrested the remaining three accused, including two woman pimps, for forcing a 14-year-old girl from Vyasarpadi into prostitution with the apparent support of her mother.

The sensational case shocked Tamil Nadu last month when the minor was rescued by the Tirupati police after she fled to the temple town to escape the sexual abuse by a self-styled godman and a few others.

Seven persons, including godman Aravazhi Siddhar and the girl’s mother, Vasanthi, have already been arrested by the Anti-Human Trafficking Wing of the CB-CID. The other five arrested were young men who had sexually abused the girl.

“We have arrested three persons, including two female pimps. Jaya alias (28) and Latha alias Radha (25) had been actively involved in offering the girl for sex at various public places in the city. Jayalakshmi’s estranged husband Selvam was also arrested. He had once abused the girl when she was alone in his house at Moolakadai,” said Deputy Superintendent of Police Raja Srinivas.

“The girl’s mother Vasanthi, Aravazhi Siddhar, Selvam and the two women pimps were sharing the money earned by forcing the girl into prostitution. They injected the girl with narcotics to force her into flesh trade,” police added.

With the three arrests on Tuesday, all suspects in the case had been nabbed, police  officials said.
