SRM’s management course inaugurated

“Honing managerial skills and developing dynamism is the need of the hour,” said Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah during the inauguration of the SRM Association of Management Studies (SAMS) on the SRM University campus in Kattankulathur recently. He said that  management had a broader scope of application than other courses and involved rational thinking and decision making.

“It is an applied science and it focuses on listening, building teams, planning and implementing strategies and technologies. It helps one visualise in a holistic manner, see the integrated picture and take appropriate decisions,” he added.

Noting that India had made rapid strides in all fields since independence, he said though the country had developed a lot in terms of education, the quality of the education imparted needed to be enhanced to compete globally. “India has witnessed a sea change in the field of management education in the 21st century but the education imparted should equip one to address the global challenges,” the Governor noted.

He also added that management was vital to attain excellence. “A competent managerial leadership alone can transform the resources of men, money, materials and machinery into a productive enterprise,” he added.
