Brahman is nothing but trust and goodness
CHENNAI: Adevotee or disciple should not commit sins consciously — Svayamkritha Aparadha. We should be aware of what we are doing every minute. Remember, our ego makes us commit more mistakes projecting to us that we are not respected by others, we are not given importance or credit to what we are doing. The guru interferes only when our ego grows to great magnitude and we cross our limits like the demons —Madhu Kaitaba as described in the Devi Mahatmyam. These two demons constantly consumed the nectar of lord Vishnu’s Ksheera Sagara — milky ocean. Instead of converting the chaitanya of Vishnu into divine attributes, they converted it to the demonic quality of ego.
“The guru is so compassionate and doesn’t have any ego. The guru knows we are ignorant. Therefore, we must not mistake the guru’s grace and compassion and take it lightly. This is sheer complacence. Our prayers should be filled with humbleness and humility. Then our senses will recede backwards and we begin to experience that Brahman, our soul and guru are one and the same. Then, the guru leads us to the world of god,” says lord Shiva.
We must receive each word of the guru with total reverence as it is meant for our transformation only. We must etch in our hearts that, “I am what I am because of my guru”.
Then, the grace of the guru will flow into us perennially in the form of knowledge, prosperity and peace. Knowledge flows fluently through our tongue which becomes the sacred seat — the peetha of goddess Saraswati herself who is the embodiment of wisdom.
Therefore our speech should be decorated with decorum. We must not stutter and stumble as we will then be shaking the sacred seat of goddess Saraswati and that only implies that we are yet to be prepared to convey the knowledge to others.
The guru only looks for reformation and transformation in you. His divine attributes are as permanent as the sun, moon and the planets. Hence, guru is the pivot around which we have to change for the better. When we revolve around the soul, we get involved and evolve.
We must purify ourselves by repenting and atoning for all our sins committed in the past and the present, resolve not to repeat those mistakes again in the future. We need not rewind our past; we just have to accept that we have definitely committed mistakes that have resulted in this human birth. It is an opportunity to atone, make ourselves perfect and enjoy the freedom that we are born to experience.
This is the state of Brahman. In this state of Brahman, trust emanates from you leading to crystallization in your heart, which was hitherto fragmented into pieces. Our trust starts merging at the lotus feet of the guru. Brahman is nothing but trust and goodness, which then gets converted to creativity to spread to others. It does not require any rituals. Brahman will condense from you and you become Parabrahman. Just as the mist forms outside the vessel in which a cold object is kept likewise Parabrahman is formed in us when we consecrate the lotus feet of our guru in our heart. Brahman is creating the creative force within you to pass it on to others.
In this verse 11, lord Shiva says the knowledge and experience of Brahman has come to you from your guru, which, you have to now pass on to others who seek it. In short, Brahman is condensed by you and you radiate it to others.
