CHENNAI: City -based chef Vinoth Kumar’s  amazing vegetable carving feast has fetched him three Guinness World Records.

He also has a world record in vegetable carving from Assist World Record & Miracle Books of Records to his credit.  Vegetable carving is a fascinating food art that originated in the Thai, Japanese and Chinese royal feasts. While flowers or birds are the common choices, there are some vegetable carvers who go beyond these basics to create elaborate sculptures.

Chef Vinoth Kumar, CEO, Sai International Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Teachnology, has been working to place Chennai on the global vegetable carving map. An innovative and creative vegetable carver, he has tried his hand at various vegetable carving themes from nature-inspired ones like flowers to larger sculptures with more elaborate detailing.

His first record broke vegetable carver Stephen’s world record of creating  vegetable carving on a pumpkin in 16.9 seconds, by crafting eyes and a head from a pumpkin in 15.4 seconds.

For the second record, he was blindfolded to make a vegetable sculpture from radish in 300 seconds, which he completed in 68 seconds. Vinoth Kumar dedicated the record to the visually challenged.

His third record broke yet another one of Stephen — vegetable sculptures from 1,000 kgs of pumpkins in 3 hours and 40 minutes.

Vinoth beat the record by making vegetable sculptures out of 1,000 kgs of pumpkins in two hours and 10 seconds. His amazing feats are recorded in the Limca Book of World Records, Assist World Records and Miracles Book of Records. Chef Vinoth Kumar is a diploma holder in Hotel Management and Catering Technology (DHMCT) and is also a MBA holder. He has 15 years of professional work experience in the hotel and catering industry. He also specialises in mega budget vegatable carving extravaganzas for weddings, parties and other corporate and social events.
