CHENNAI: The long queue of students waiting for their turn in the shady campus of DG Vaishnav College in Arumbakkam seems to be comprised of first generation learners and many aspirants from Chennai and its suburbs.
For parents like Susheela who are from the outskirts of the city, the reason for this is the quality, exposure and good placements that former students in her neighbourhood often talk about. For Krithika, it is the prime location of the college and its closeness to CMBT that make it a preferred destination.
After fifty years of offering quality education, DG Vaishnav is among the preferred institutions in the city for undergraduate courses in commerce, management studies and science subjects like biochemistry. “Besides arts and science courses, we offer interdisciplinary courses like Physics with Computer Application and Math with Computer Application, which have several takers,” says Dr V Narasimhan, Principal, emphasising the steady increase in the number of students opting for evening college.
