CHENNAI: A human being wants to control and rule over the situations and people around, but is this really possible? Succeeding in this makes us feel superior, elevated, satisfied, fearless and secured. This success, at a personal level, may feel as a sense of being powerful, while we express it as care and concern towards the family and in the work environment it may be called as authority.
Basically, this yearning has become natural over external factors because ‘I’ the master of the senses, a powerful being has lost the controlling power and the ruling power over the self itself, and is feeling powerless. To enable the self to feel the sense of power again, ‘I’ identifies the self as the roles and the positions, but my own physical senses have started to act on their own, over- powering the mind.
Thus ‘I’ the soul, the master of the senses have become a slave.
To veil this feeling of a slave and to prove the mastery again, ‘I’, in the process try to control and rule everyone and everything around me. This illusion of succeeding in these tasks is labelled as ‘success’ and we use our rational intelligence as the key to achieve this.
While, Intelligence Quotient (IQ) is based on rational intelligence which is used to analyze facts and information, Emotional Intelligence (EQ), which is applied to control the emotions and feelings while empathizing.
Both are necessary to subsist in the race of the corporate ladder. In the recent days, amazingly, one can be fired for the low EQ even as he is hired for his high IQ.
In today’s scenario, both IQ and EQ are becoming obsolete and to be replaced by SQ, Spiritual quotient. SQ is a measure towards one’s spiritual intelligence. In the stressful atmosphere of the corporate culture, human resource is under the pressure to be in search of spiritual intelligence.
True salvation from slavery and the real success comes from the controlling and ruling the senses of one’s own self, and not others or the situations. To accomplish this, all I need is to realize who I am, and to live with that awareness. Only with this self-awareness we are able to discern the true meaning of things, events, and circumstances and only then are we able, to see our and the purpose.
Using these qualities of ‘I’ the soul, to know and to act in the right way at the right time in the right place with the right intention is spiritual intelligence.
Spiritual intelligence is the ability to find the purpose of life and live with values and express integrity in every action. It is more concerned with the inner self than with the outer world.
Today the corporate sectors at any level are looking for individuals with abilities of building trust, acting with integrity, consistency, proactive attitude and positive vision.
And to be able to stay calm and focused during crisis and chaos, one needs to be selfless and altruistic in attitude. These qualities surfaces when we have the strongest sense of self awareness, or the soul consciousness. I am able to then, see the perspective of life differently and use my soft and subtle skills to serve and contribute rather than making money.
Spiritual intelligence finishes my dependency on people and situations. It enables my inner sources surface on my behavior to adapt, mould, accept and tolerate.
High degree of self-awareness increases the capacity to face and use obstacles to learn and be inspired by vision and values, reluctant to cause unnecessary harm and visualize the various connections between diverse things. Being ‘field-independent’, makes me a leader and a visionary.
Every single being is possessed with this spiritual intelligence unlike rational intelligence which we need to acquire. All we need to do is accept the truth that we posses these qualities and keep using it with awareness. While you become the master of controlling and ruling power of the self, everyone and everything surrenders to you, pulled by the string of love rather than the sabotage of ego.
