Techie Among Three Killed in Three Mishaps

CHENNAI: Three persons - a software engineer, an elderly woman and a security guard were killed in separate accidents on Rajiv Gandhi Salai, on Wednesday.

Police said Ravi, (23), a techie working in an IT major in Karapakkam, was returning home on his two-wheeler after work around 3 a.m. on Wednesday when he reportedly lost his balance and fell down from his two-wheeler near Perungudi on OMR. He was rescued by auto-rickshaw drivers and was rushed to a neighbouring hospital and then moved to a private hospital at Nungambakkam. However, police said he sustained grievous injuries and died without responding to treatment.

In the second accident reported at Kandhanchaavadi, Kasturi, (68), a resident of KBK Nagar, was knocked down by a van when she was crossing the road on Wednesday evening. The woman was moved to a private hospital at Kelambakkam where doctors declared her dead on arrival. The body was moved to the Government Chrompet Hospital for a post-mortem. In the third accident reported in Taramani, Jeyavel, (49), a private security guard, was killed in a case of hit-and-run while crossing the road near Tidel Park on Wednesday morning.
