CHENNAI: Ever witnessed a free falling dance show at a fashion event? At a recent fashion brunch hosted by Shahin Ansari of Maalgadi and editor of The Red Kite Apsara Reddy at The Westin Chennai Velachery, there were breathtaking dance performances. In fact, one of the dancers jumped from a six-foot-tall structure! This wasn’t just the one aspect that we found interesting. The afternoon of fashion, art and oodles of style, curated by Vivek Karunakaran,  marking the preview of fashion designer Nida Mahmood’s spring/summer collection 2015, stood out as a completely unconventional one in every other aspect as well.

Women achievers walked the ramp instead of models. These included Avni Mohindra,  CEO of an exports company, and Varshini Reddy from the Vishranthi builders family. Art installations and origami-inspired visuals came alive and several celebs such as Taapsee Pannu, Anita Ratnam, Bharath, Lissy and Sanchita Shetty were also present.
