CMDA Seals Building at Madipakkam

CHENNAI: The Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) on Wednesday sealed a building on Medavakkam Main Road at Madipakkam, as part of efforts to check unauthorised constructions in the Chennai metropolitan area.

A CMDA official said the building, located on Ganesh Street, had  violated sections 56 and 57 of Town and Country Planning Act.

The building owner initially obtained plan permission from St Thomas Mount Panchayat Union Commissioner for construction of an ordinary building consisting of stilt plus two floors.

But, the builder deviated from the original plan. “The building was constructed as a special building in violation of the approved plan,” the official said.

“The building has violations in floor space index, height of building, car parking with unauthorised ground floor and the third floor,” the spokesman said.
