CHENNAI: Guests at Hotel Ambassador Pallava are in for a different visual treat each time they stop by.

The walls in its Gallerie d’ Expression are adorned with an assortment of paintings that change every fortnight.

“We arrange exhibition-cum-sale of paintings from a different artist each fortnight. There have been contributions from young and established artists equally. When guests come here to stay or dine, they have a look, they appreciate and sometimes a few of them buy the paintings too. This way, we encourage art,” says one of the staff of the hotel.

Kalpana, an artist, feels that this opportunity serves as a platform for their kind. Adding an extra dimension to her work, she says that the exhibition would bring in prospective clients.

“It is a win-win situation for both the hotel and the artist. The hotel gets more visitors and we get a good experience and who knows, it might fetch me more offers,” she rhapsodises.

The hotel has been inviting artists and their paintings free of cost, for more than a decade.

“It is immensely popular and the bookings are full for a year from now,” says one of the organisers at the hotel.

Exhibiting his work for the fourth time at the hotel, artist C Sugumaran, who hails from a family with three generations of artists, says that he has been approached by various clients with requests for his paintings.

“My whole family is involved in painting. When people buy our paintings here, it is definitely of a great boost for we artists,” he adds.
