Robbers Tie Bikers To Tree In Forest Area, Loot Chain, Cash

CHENNAI: Two men on a bike in a forest area on Thursday night near Urapakkam in Kancheepuram district were assaulted by a gang of robbers, which took away their bike, jewels and cash after tying them to a tree. Police said Vasudevan (50) and his brother Jayachandran (42) were headed to Panangattu Pakkam village when the incident took place. They were crossing the Arungalkappu forest area when the gang intercepted and assaulted them with knives. After snatching a gold chain and about Rs 2,000 in cash, the robbers tied them to a tree and vanished.

Passersby rescued them. They were being treated in the Chrompet GH. Based on their complaint, the Guduvanchery police registered a case and are searching for them.
