CHENNAI: Madras High Court Justice C S Karnan has lodged a complaint with the court’s Registrar General stating that he received a phone call threatening him on Monday night.

The judge left the petitioners and advocates stunned after he summoned the Registrar General Pon Kalaiyarasan and Additional Deputy Commissioner K N Murali into the hall and disclosed that he received a threat call.

Justice Karnan said he received the call at his residence in Greenways Road on Monday night around 11.30 pm to his landline.

“It could have been one of those against whom I have lodged complaints in the past,” he said. In an oral order, he directed them to look into the matter and take sufficient action to nab the culprit.

Kalaiyarasan also gave an oral instruction to the police to initiate action to identify the accused.

Later, speaking to reporters, Kalaiyarasan said he had told the cops to look into the matter and arrest the accused as per the direction of the Justice. The call log of the judge was collected by the cops from his personal assistant and enquiry was commenced.
