CHENNAI: Vel Tech’s Dr RR and Dr RR Technical University Convocation was an event of nobility and grandeur. Shri Avinash Chander, scientific advisor to the MoD and director general, Defence Research and Development Organisation was the Chief Guest for the grand event. He delivered the convocation address and distributed gold medals and degree certificates to the engineering graduates.
Avinash Chander, while delivering his address said, “The primary input to the development of the nation is human resource. The nation is looking for good performers. The research capability at Vel Tech has indeed evolved into a centre for excellence for research and development, especially in the aeronautical and automotive sector. The DRDO has been a great beneficiary of this joint activity.” Congratulating the graduates, he emphasised that expectations were high on them and that they must make a mark for themselves and the institution, country and family.
Avinash Chander, who’s also the chief architect of Agni series, Ballistic missile systems has a great experience in the field of inertial navigation and guidance systems. He has enabled utilization of solid propulsion, the main thrust and the backbone of long range missile system.
Honourable president and founder chairman Col Prof Dr Vel R Rangarajan presided over the ceremony in the presence of Chancellor De R P Bajpai and Vice Chancellor Prof Bala Satyanarayana.
The chief guest also had an intense interactive session with the research faculty of the university.
