CHENNAI: Results of the Students Council elections 2014-15 of Loyola College were withdrawn immediately after they were declared on Friday. The authorities admitted to a clerical error in the online election process and withdrew the results after students resorted to a protest.

“There was some clerical error which will be looked into. The results that had been put out have been withdrawn. We will be fixing up the error that had occurred and fresh results will be declared,” said Dean of the students affairs at the college, Professor L Martin Luther.

On Friday, the initial results had declared Vigneshwar M as the President, Karthick M as Vice President, Ahamed Nizar Baslulla A S as Secretary, Fuaad Omar as Joint Secretary and Sharada S as Associate Secretary.

The authorities cited the PG admissions that begin on Saturday as the reason for the delay in announcing the final election results.

The college had taken to online election since the last year. Under the system, the students are to log into an intranet system within the college to register the votes. On Friday, the protesters came out against the efficacy of the system. But authorities defended the process saying that it was hacker-proof.
