Parents Stage Stir After 2 Kids Die

CHENNAI: The parents of a seven-year-old girl and a two-year-old boy staged protests at the Stanley Medical College and Hospital, following the death of their children, on Saturday.

The parents of Sri Sabari (2), son of a labourer from Royapuram, and Bhuvaneshwari (7), from Periyapalayam, staged protests alleging negligence by the doctors. Sabari was admitted for treatment of jaundice, while Bhuvaneshwari was suffering from wheezing.

According to S K Amudha, aunt of Sri Sabari, “We had admitted the Sabari on June 19. Despite his declining health, the doctors did not attend on him. This morning (Saturday) at 11.30, when Sabari’s health began to deteriorate further, about 10 doctors gave him a lot of injections, but Sabari had become motionless by then. After this, we staged a protest. After media came, the doctors at 3.30 pm told us that Sabari had died.”
