For Budding Ornithologists!

CHENNAI: Did you know that Chennai has a variety of species of birds? To find where they are housed and how to distinguish the birds from one another, Prabha Bob, an avid bird watcher for over 15 years, will teach children aged nine to 15 years, in the Beginners Guide to Bird Watching For Kids organised by Goli Soda at Ashvita Bistro on Bawa Road, Alwarpet, this Friday.

After the success of a similar workshop conducted for adults earlier, this summer, kids get to enjoy a  fun-filled interactive session, where they will learn about the prime bird watching spots in the city, ways to identify common and uncommon birds and their calls, and also what other birds can be found in the city, besides the commonly found ones. Prabha will also teach the children the birds that fly into the city during the migratory season and where to look for them.

The session will have audio-visual presentations on the kinds of birds, primarily about those that are in Chennai, but general details about the other types of birds will also be shared with them. To encourage the kids further, quizzes, games and other team-building activities have also been organised and the winners will be awarded prizes.

Entry for this workshop is free and the seats are filling up, according to the organisers. So, those who’re interested, send an SMS to 9791088189, along with your kid’s name and age. Once you receive a confirmation, the child can walk into Ashvita on Friday between 6 and 7.30 pm.
