Aavin Resumes Normal Milk Supply to Chennai

CHENNAI:  Aavin has almost restored its milk supply to the city by supplying 10.8 lakh litres on Sunday.

An Aavin press release here said Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa had ordered its officials to ensure uninterrupted supply of milk to the people of the city. The company had bought nearly 1.5 lakh litres of milk from other districts and supplied 10.2 lakh litres of milk to the people on Saturday itself. The total requirement of the city is 11.5 lakh litres, it noted.

The State government asked people to give complaints, if any, on persons selling Aavin milk at higher rates or if there was lack of milk supply. The helplines for complaints are 9840387510, 9840907494 and 9443944908.

Besides, 130 tonnes of milk powder was given to the inmates of relief camps in Chennai, Cuddalore, Tiruvallur and Kancheepuram districts.

The government has formed 15 monitoring committees to supervise the proper supply of Aavin milk.
