CHENNAI: The founder of Infinite Wings and philosopher Sudarshan Kannan conducted a management seminar on Wednesday at Hyatt Regency titled ‘The Ancient Secrets of Time Mastery’. The aim of the seminar, Sudarshan explained, was to help people become masters of time as opposed to managing time better. He said time management brings stress at a sub-conscious level, as tasks have deadlines.

“At a conscious level, you might feel a sense of achievement when you complete tasks before a deadline. But the pressure builds as we need to finish work on time. When stress accumulates, your capacity to achieve reduces,” Sudarshan said.

He spoke about three-time Wimbledon champions, Boris Becker, who slipped into drug abuse though he was successful. “For convenience, we split life into work, family, friends, etc. Those barriers don’t exist. Ancient wisdom takes life as a single whole,” he said.

The solution to solving this, he said, is understanding the wheel of time. Imagine a wheel, the spokes of which demarcate the different aspects of your life. The wheel is constantly moving fast, as time tends to, but the centre of the wheel is static. “It is important that you place yourself in the heart of your wheel of time. If you put your child in the centre, you spend your time worrying and brooding about your child. To master time, you need to master yourself,” added Sudarshan.
