11 Navy, Two Coast Guard Pilots Honoured

Eleven Navy, two Coast Guard pilots honoured at passing-out parade of 85th Helicopter Conversion Course at Naval air station at Arakkonam.

CHENNAI: Eleven Navy and two Coast Guard pilots were honoured at the passing-out parade of the 85th Helicopter Conversion Course at the Naval air station at Arakkonam, about 80 km from here.

Assistant Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral, Pynumootil presented the "Wings" to 11 Navy and two Coast Guard pilots during the ceremony at INS Rajali, which is the largest air base of Indian Navy, an official release here said.

The pilots underwent 21 weeks training under Captain K Sri Vatsa at Indian Naval Air Squadron and Helicopter Training School.

Till date 638 pilots for Indian Navy and Coast Guard have graduated, it said.

Ashwin Uday Kumar was awarded the Governor of Kerala Rolling Trophy for being adjudged the "Best All Round Trainee Pilot," while Sourabh Kumar Sharma was honoured with the Eastern Naval Command Rolling Trophy.

The graduate pilots would join operations at Daman, Goa, Kochi, Mumbai, Port Blair and Vishakapatnam, it said.
