Fake cop held for ‘raping’ 28-yr-old

Chennai: A 30-year-old man was arrested by the Tirukazhukundram police in Kancheepuram district for allegedly kidnapping and raping  a 28-year-old woman. The woman said the man posing as a cop took her to a secluded spot and sexually abused her, Tirukazhukundram police said. The accused S Palani of Tirukazhukundram has since been arrested.

Law student Held for sexual abuse

Chennai: A 22-year-old man was arrested for  the alleged sexual abuse of a four-year-old girl at Tondiarpet. The acused A Pandiarajan, a fourth year law student at Government Dr Ambedkar Law college and a resident of Nethaji Nagar at Tondiarpet, on Sunday allegedly abused the girl living near his house. The child complained to her parents. 

Armyman’s wife robbed at knifepoint

Chennai: An armyman’s wife was waylaid while she was returning home from work near Tiruverkadu on Sunday night. Police said R Vanaja (30) was robbed of her nine-sovereign  chain by a trio at knife-point. A resident of Lotus Nagar, Vanaja runs a garment store at Ambattur. On Sunday night, she was returning home on her two-wheeler after work when the trio, also on a two wheeler, stopped her and robbed her.

KN Sathiyamurthy State Intel IGP

Chennai: The Tamil Nadu Government on Monday appointed KN Sathiyamurthy as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP), Intelligence, in place of incumbent S Davidson Devasirvatham. An order from the government said that the appointment of Sathiyamurthy is with immediate effect. He was serving as IGP of the Central Zone in Tiruchy.
