Teen Held for Hoax Call to Egmore Station

CHENNAI: Government railway police (GRP) on Sunday arrested a 19-year- old youth for making a hoax bomb call to Egmore railway station on April 27.

According to sources, Harisha, of Bengaluru, is a third year polytechnic student at a college in Tambaram and was staying with his relatives at Alapakkam.

On April 24, he stole a cellphone and laptop while meeting a woman he was in touch with through social media.

Using that phone, he made a number of calls to 108 before dialling 100 to issue a bomb threat to Egmore station.

He was picked up from Villivakkam and two mobiles and the laptop were recovered. Egmore police are probing further.
