Police said they are suspecting role of a few persons, who were well acquainted with the victim. On Monday evening, Tamilarasi was in her house at VGP Layout with her maid when two men introduced themselves as a distant relative and said they have come with a wedding invitation.

“The maid allowed them inside believing their story. Tamilarasi also believed them as they mentioned names of her relatives correctly. The men had cool drinks and even had a chat with her for nearly 30 minutes,” said an investigating officer. After sometime, Tamilarasi started feeling suspicious as there were a few contradictions in their narration. Giving no time for her to react, the men wielded a knife and threatened her to hand over the gold jewellery that she was wearing. Tamilarasi tried to shield herself from the robbers but suffered a minor cut in her hand. Meanwhile, the maid managed to rush out of the house and raised an alarm. However, by the time Tamilarasi’s relatives and other local residents arrived at the spot, the duo managed to flee in bikes with three others.
