CHENNAI:  The city police are planning to issue a lookout circular against a 25-year-old BPO employee who remains absconding after he killed his girlfriend and left her body in his car at his apartment on March 9.

Dinesh (25), of VJ Flats on Barrakka Road, Secretariat Colony, visited his ailing father before melting away.

Speaking to Express, Joint Commissioner of Police C Sridhar said they had already issued hand bills besides sharing his pictures to all police stations in the State and in neighbouring States to trace him.

“He has not left any digital trail. He neither carries any mobile phone nor has he withdrawn money with his ATM card. We have combed all religious places where food and accommodation are available easily. We have tried to locate him in places including Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh, Tiruttani near Chennai and Palani in Dindigul district. He hasn’t stayed in any of these places,” the police officer said.

Sridhar said the police were planning to advertise through the mass media and seek public assistance to inform the investigation officer as soon as Dinesh was seen. “We would also issue a look out circular against him. He is not a passport-holder though. The case has been solved. The offender is known but remains elusive. The party which is probing the murder has been sleepless for days in their frantic attempt to locate him,” said another senior police official privy to the probe.

The official added that they had not ruled out the possibility of Dinesh committing suicide. “He might have had the resolve to kill the woman while committing the crime, but his attitude could have changed now,” the officer said.

The officer then said had Dinesh disposed of the body elsewhere, it would have become two different cases: the one, a woman missing and the other an unidentified body of a woman in some other jurisdiction.
