Coast Guard Intensifies Search for Fishing Boat

Chennai Coast Guard intensified search and rescue efforts to locate a fishing boat, reported missing in Bay of Bengal since May 23.

CHENNAI: The Coast Guard has intensified rescue efforts to locate a fishing boat, reported missing in Bay of Bengal since May 23.

The CG has deployed Search and Rescue operations on receipt of information from the Maritime Rescue Coordination Rescue Centre Chennai about the missing vessel, it said in an official release.

Coast Guard helicopters and a 'Dornier' aircraft were also deployed but the missing boat was yet to be sighted. The Advanced off-shore vessel was also deployed for a search in high seas.

The search and rescue efforts are going on in full swing. All Coast Guard units at sea have been directed to maintain a sharp look out at sea to locate the missing boat," it said.
