HC Closes Suo-motu Proceedings

Madras High Court has closed a suo-motu PIL relating to the death of Kuppusamy (72), a differently-abled person.

CHENNAI:  Madras High Court has closed a suo-motu PIL relating to the death of Kuppusamy (72), a differently-abled person, on February 18 during a protest in the city.

The post-mortem conducted on the body revealed that the deceased had died due to intra-cranial hemorrhage, which is a natural cause, the first bench of Chief Justice SK Kaul and Justice MM Sundresh said on Monday.

Further, it has been emphasised that the said person was helping the persons with special needs. The whole agitation had been videographed and photographed. It is also stated that the agitation was handled in accordance with norms.

One Nusrullah, who lodged the complaint before the bench on the incident, was not present in the court, today. No other material has been placed before the bench other than the press reports. In view of this, the bench said that it was closing the PIL.
