Graduation Day at RMK College

The 17th graduation day of RMK Engineering College was held recently. R Koteeswaran,  managing director, IOB, Chennai, gave the convocation address and distributed the degree certificates to 1,167 graduates and cash awards to university rank holders and academic prize winners. The college has bagged a record 101 university ranks in the academic year 2014-15. Total cash prizes worth `50 lakh were presented to rank holders and prize winners. In his speech, Koteeswaran praised the chairman for his dedication with which he developed the institution. He told students to follow the three P’s: passion, patience and persev-erance. He also spoke about the three Ds: dream, discipline and dedication. 

1,000 Kids at Drawing Contest

VGP Snow Kingdom organised a Snow Blizzard, a drawing competition to exhibit snow art, for children 3 to 14 years old. Several schools and individuals participated with over 1,000 pre-registrations. VGP Snow Kingdom hosted the event with the participation from various schools along with their parents. Artist and actor AP Shreethar was the chief guest. He was also a judge at the contest. VGP Snow Kingdom is the state’s first full-fledged snow theme park on East Coast Road, Injambakkam and is open 365 days a year.

RO Purifiers Donated

Ireland Education Fair in City

‘Education in Ireland’, the national brand under the Minister for Education and Skills, organised an education fair at Hotel Taj Coromandel. At the fair, the Irish team met students and parents to showcase the Irish education system and their quality of programmes. The students interacted with representatives of 12 higher education Irish institutes, receiving information about the available courses, alumni’s success stories as well as expected ROI (return on investment) on education via scholarships, and employment opportunities. Students enquired about disciplines such as computer science, electronics engineering, data analytics, digital marketing and MBA.  

Biotech Institute for Research

The School of Life sciences at BS Abdur Rahman University has set up a Biotech Industry Institute Consortium (BIIC) which was inaugurated by Dr Christopher Taylor Barry, a transplant surgeon from the University of Rochester. He was in India to celebrate National Science Day 2016 and as part of ‘Make in India’ campaign. Dr Barry delivered a special lecture on ‘Liver Cancer Genomics: the Promise of Personalised Medicine’ during his visit to Jaipur. The CEOs and scientists from biotech industries in association with School of Life Sciences, BSAU, initiated this BIIC for collaborative research.
