Why Not Post Sanction Plans of Buildings?

CHENNAI:  The Madras High Court has directed the Commissioner of Chennai Corpration to examine why the sanction plan for each of the buildings should not be prominently displayed in front of the properties and posted on the website.

The First Bench of Chief Justice SK Kaul and Justice MM Sundresh, directed the Commissioner to respond within a week. It will help people know what is permissible to construct at the site and whether the construction is as per the sanction plans or not.

The Bench also asked why appropriate action should not be taken against the IX Corporation Zonal officer for filing a false affidavit concealing material facts with regard to an unauthorised construction. It directed the zonal officer to respond within three days. Originally, Dr VI Mathan, and five others filed a PIL to demolish the illegal construction at the Second Avenue on Harrigton Road. The matter will be taken up on March 22.
