Police release photos of suspects who murdered Rajendran at Kolathur's TASMAC outlet

Nearly a month after the incident, police released photos of three suspects and announced a cash reward for anyone who identifies the trio.

CHENNAI: Nearly a month after a 53-year-old security guard of a cash management company was murdered by unidentified men who tried rob TASMAC collection money from him, city police on Tuesday released photos of three suspects and also announced a cash reward for anyone who identifies the trio.

The guard, Rajendran, a resident of Radhakrishnan Street in M R R Nagar in Avadi, died a day after he was brutally attacked with sickles by a three member gang in broad day light near Senthil Nagar in Kolathur. 

Rajendran worked as a security guard at  Radiant Cash Management, an agency which collects cash from Tasmac outlets. On April 25, the victim along with the collection agent Mohan (65) and driver Vinod Kumar were travelling in a car across the suburbs, collecting money from Tasmac outlets.

“When they reached a TASMAC outlet in Kolathur, Rajendran was guarding Rs 40 lakh cash in the car when the agent had gone for collection. Meanwhile, three men approached the car and attacked Rajendran with sickles and threw chilly powder on his face and fled on a motor-bike.
