6 DMDK MLAs Represent to Attend Budget Session

CHENNAI: The six DMDK MLAs led by party Whip in the State Assembly VC Chandirakumar, on Monday urged Assembly Secretary AMP Jamaludeen to allow them to take part in the budget session which begins today.

Since the Assembly Secretary was not in station, they handed over a copy of the verdict of the Supreme Court revoking their suspension, given on February 2, to his personal staff at the Secretariat.

Besides Chandirakumar, R Mohanraj, S R Parthiban, L Venkatesan, C H Sekar and K Dhinakaran were suspended by speaker P Dhanapal on April 1 last year on the charge of creating a ‘ruckus’ in the Assembly on February  19, 2015.

The session beginning today would be the last one of the 14th Assembly.

Chandirakumar told mediapersons that if the six MLAs were not allowed to participate in the budget session, they would be forced to move the Supreme Court for initiating contempt proceedings. The Secretary should order de-sealing the office and residential premises of the six MLAs immediately as per the verdict. Meanwhile, the Assembly Secretary camping in New Delhi, is said to be taking steps to file a review petition on the SC verdict.
