CHENNAI: Chennai Metro Rail is planning to have a trial run between Alandur and Chennai Airport by the middle of next month, once the electrification of the overhead head equipment is done. Chennai Metro Rail completed the 4.38-km stretch including 1.4-km cut and cover section on January 14 this year. The viaduct starts from the OTA to airport on Corridor 1 covering two stations — Meenambakkam and airport. The electrification on the stretch between Alandur and airport is likely to be over by the first week of March, following which the trial run is likely by mid-March, said a Chennai Metro Rail source. Meanwhile, the trial run on the underground stretch from Koyambedu to Shenoy Nagar is expected in April.
