Schools in Chennai New Areas Missing Out Schemes

CHENNAI: Government schools in newly added areas of the city corporation have been missing out on a plethora of schemes owing to administrative oversight.

Addressing Chennai Corporation’s budget session on Friday, Mayor Saidai Duraisamy said schools in extended localities of Kancheepuram and Thiruvallur districts have been denied  47 useful schemes as they still don’t come under the administrative purview of Chennai Corporation. The schemes include free uniform for school students, stationery and cash prize for top three state rankholders. He blamed the previous DMK regime, which initiated the expansion of city limits, for failing to bring the schools alone under the civic body.
