State-level paralympic swimming contest on july 23-24 in Theni

Winners at this state-level event will be selected for the 16th National Paralympic Swimming Championship. There is no fee for the contest and food and lodging will be given free. PSATN has hosted events for persons with disabilities since 2012

CHENNAI: Paralympic Swimming Association of Tamil Nadu (PSATN) has announced the date for the commencement of the fourth state-level Paralympic Swimming Championship. The event will be held on July 23-24  at the SDAT swimming pool, Theni. Those who would like to participate should register on or before July 10.

Separate competitions will be held for male and female swimmers and they will compete under the junior, sub-junior and senior categories based on their ages.

Three categories of people with disabilities will be considered at the competetion — physically challenged (those affected by polio, cerebral palsy and the like), visually challenged and those with Down syndrome.

The winners at the state-level championship will be selected for the 16th National Paralympic Swimming Championship. Participation is free of cost; breakfast, lunch and tea will be provided to contestants on both days, and dinner will be given on the first day of the event. Participants from different cities will get accommodation.
