Tulir schedules workshop against child sex abuse

CHENNAI: TULIR-Centre for Prevention and Healing of Child Sexual Abuse (CPHSA), a non-profit organisation working against child sexual abuse in India, will be conducting two workshop series from June 20-23 in Chennai.

The presenter at both these workshops will be Dr Peter Choate, PhD, Assistant Professor, Child Studies and Social Work, Mount Royal University, Calgary, Canada. The first workshop will be on ‘Forensic and Therapeutic Interviewing’ to be held on June 21-22, about the best way to approach and deal with the disclosure by child victims of sexual abuse. It is aimed at people working closely with children like educators,  social workers and those working with child protection agencies.

The second workshop, ‘Understanding and Responding to Institution-based Sexual Abuse’ on June 22-23, and deals with how to respond to sexual abuse in schools, hostels and children’s homes. It will teach participants on how to deal with disclosure of abuse by vulnerable kids in complex environments.
