12K cadre from other parties join AIADMK

The entrants into the AIADMK were from the districts of Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvannamalai, Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Nagapattinam, Theni, Sivaganga, Tuticorin and Kanyakumari.

CHENNAI: As many as 11,967 cadre including 1,500 women and 320 functionaries from DMK, Congress, MDMK, TMC and DMDK joined the AIADMK on Tuesday in the presence of party general secretary and Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, at a function got up near the party headquarters here.

The entrants into the AIADMK were from the districts of Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvannamalai, Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Nagapattinam, Theni, Sivaganga, Tuticorin and Kanyakumari.

Welcoming them into the party fold, Jayalalithaa said the AIADMK was a political movement where true democracy prevails and they would have a bright future in their political journey.

“The place where you have landed is indeed a good place.  Your faith will not go in vain. The objective of the AIADMK is to ensure a prosperous Tamil Nadu and to give good governance.  I hope you all would extend unflinching support for me in achieving the goal of making Tamil Nadu the numero uno State in the country,” she said.

Iniyan Sampath, son of late organising secretary of the party Sulochana Sampath, V S Babu, former DMK MLA and party’s former secretary of north Chennai district,  former secretary of DMDK’s trade union wing M Soundarapandian, Coimbatore North district secretary R Pandian, party’s Sivaganga district presidium chairman M Muthupandi, TMC’s propaganda secretary Agaram T Anand, TNCC’s Kancheepuram North district secretary, PK Murthi and TMC trade union secretary Manjai V Mohan were among those joined the AIADMK.

Meanwhile, the AIADMK general secretary handed over the D/D for Rs.1.10 lakh to Priyadarshini, from Kannakurukkai village in Tiruvannamalai district, to pursue MBBS in ESI Medical College in Chennai.
