CHENNAI: If the recently popular name ‘E-toilet’ confused you or caught you unawares, download the new app that was launched on Monday to know all about it. Though the city has seen a plethora of toilets in form of urinals, bio-toilets, mobile toilets etc, the more recent avatar of it — the E ‘toilet’ runs entirely on sensor-based systems, and on the premise of easy use and saving water.

Two sets of apps, one for the public and one for the corporation, were launched at the Corporation headquarters by Mayor Saidai Duraisamy and Commissioner Chandramohan to make them easier to locate and use .

The city has 200 units, which are the largest number for any city in the country. The app helps one sift through these automated E-toilets that have features  like a body-temperature based sensor attached to monitor usage numbers.
