CHENNAI: The Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Friday condoled the demise of the former Lok Sabha Speaker, PA Sangma.
Expressing deep shock, Jayalalithaa said, “Sangma was an outstanding parliamentarian who served as Lok Sabha Speaker, Chief Minister of Meghalaya and Union Minister holding various portfolios during his long political career. With his affable and congenial persona, he won the admiration of all, transcending political barriers. His tireless work for the underprivileged, articulate oratory interspersed with wit, and ethical standards as a parliamentarian will remain etched on the sands of time.”
Governor K Rosaiah in his condolence message said Sangma was an able administrator, eminent parliamentarian, being an MP for more than eight terms. “He dedicated his life to the upliftment and cause of the people of Meghalaya. His death is an irreparable loss to the country and to the people of Meghalaya,” he said.
