CHENNAI: A 35-year old woman was allegedly murdered by her husband while she was sleeping in her house near Periamet on Friday night. Police are hunting for the husband, Ramnaidu (40).
Police said, Ramnaidu and his wife Lakshmi were from Andhra Pradesh and had moved to the city a month ago to work as construction labourers under one Subramani. On Friday, the couple had a fight after which Lakshmi went to sleep. Ramnaidu who was still fuming hit his wife on her head, killing her on the spot.
He fled soon after.
On Saturday morning, the neighbours found Lakhsmi in a pool of blood and informed police who took the body to Government General Hospital. A case was registered and a hunt began for Ramnaidu. Police suspect that the man must have been drunk. The couple has two children in Andhra Pradesh.
