8 Students Injured in Ceiling Collapse

CHENNAI: Around eight students in Class VI of a private school in Pammal were injured when a portion of the ceiling of the class they were in came crashing down along with the ceiling fan during classes on Monday. 

Following the incident, parents gathered outside the Sri Sankara Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher secondary school at Ekambaram street in Pammal demanding action against the school principal and correspondent.

The incident occurred around 12.30 pm on Monday. According to police sources, three students of Class VI were treated in a hospital, with one of the students receiving sutures. However, some parents, requesting anonymity, said five more students were injured and alleged that the school management struck a deal with their parents not to escalate the issue.Police pacified the parents who gathered outside  the school on Tuesday.  “We have not registered any case as there was no complaint lodged by the parents,” police said.
