'DG Vaishnav Excels in All Round Edu'

CHENNAI: A colourful cultural show, which included a mime performance, marked the beginning of the 51st college day celebrations at Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College here on Wednesday.

Following the cultural show, the annual college report was presented by principal Major Dr M Venkatramanan, in the form of an audio-visual presentation. Tracing the origins of the college from its humble beginning to its present standing, he said now more than 6800 students are studying in 59 different courses. He also highlighted the management’s role in awarding financial assistance to deserving students to the tune of `44 lakh during the last academic year. Around 1040 students have been beneficiaries due to that financial grant.

Special guest AR Veeramani, Dean - College Development Council, University of Madras, said “three aspects are required to maintain educational standards - quality teachers, infrastructure and leadership. DG Vaishnav is excelling in providing all round education to students and it is primarily due to the stellar leadership of the college.” Guest of honour S Thangasamy, V-C, Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University invoked the need for colleges to develop the emotional intelligence of students.
