CHENNAI: Pay your water and sewerage tax on Thursday or get ready to pay the fine. Chennai Metro Water has said that the payments can be made at the collection centres of Metro Water in the head office or area offices, depot offices of Metro Water Board, common collection centres, Arasu e-Sevai Centres or through the website www.chennaimetrowater.tn.nic.in using credit or debit card.
Metro Water has added that delays in payment will attract surcharge of 1.25% per month. The spokesman said that assessees in some areas are liable to pay water and sewerage tax and charges. Water and sewerage is payable irrespective of any services availed by them.
The board, during 2014-15 had collected `470 crore worth water and sewerage tax and charges. This is in excess of `75 crore when compared to previous financial year 2013-14.
