Masked gang barges into house, robs Chennai couple at knife point

The couple identified as Prakasham and Banumathi, were asleep in their home at Rajeshwari Nagar in Pallavaram when a four-member masked gang armed with a knife knocked at their door.

CHENNAI: In a shocking incident, a four member gang allegedly robbed a couple at knife point in their house at Pallavaram, a southern suburb in Chennai, on Wednesday night.

The couple identified as Prakasham and Banumathi, were asleep in their home at Rajeshwari Nagar in Pallavaram when a four-member masked gang armed with a knife knocked at their door, said police.

"Thinking it to be her son who regularly returns from work late in the night, Banumathi opened the door and the men barged into the house. They threatened the couple at knife point and robbed around 10 sovereigns (80g) of gold jewellery that was kept in the locker," said a police source.

A case has been registered with the Shankar Nagar Police Station.
