CHENNAI: Residents of Visweswaran Street at Chromepet in Pallavaram Municipality were on Thursday upset with the municipal administration for severing the underground sewage connections of several households.
Municipal officials said they were taking action against only those who were yet to pay sewer charges due to the local body. The issue was later settled amicably with officials reminding residents to pay charges.
A team of workers on Thursday arrived at the street and began disconnecting the individual household service connections as part of the underground sewage network. Residents picked an argument with the staff, who said they were acting on instructions of their senior officers.
