Evening showers for two more days

CHENNAI: After Sunday’s record rains, it was business as usual for Chennaites. The maximum temperature remained above normal recording 37.1 degrees. Though dark clouds began forming late in the evening, rains eluded the city.

However, regional meteorological centre officials say the city may receive evening showers for next two days. “The sky condition is likely to be partly cloudy becoming generally cloudy towards evening or night. Rains or thunder showers are likely to occur in some areas during evening or night. Maximum and minimum temperature is likely to be around 37 and 26 degree Celsius respectively,” said G Rajendran, meteorologist. 

The areas that received good rainfall for the past 24 hours ending 8.30 am on Monday were Nungambakkam 80 mm and Kancheepuram 70 mm.
Chembarabakkam in Tiruvallur, Arakonam in Vellore, Karaikudi in Sivaganga and parts of Madurai district received 50 mm rainfall.
