Rs 24 lakh stolen from cosmetic products store

CHENNAI: A cosmetic products store in Sowcarpet was burgled of `24 lakh in cash on Thursday night. Police said that S Dinesh Kumar (40), owner of the store, wrapped up for the day on Thursday and shut his shop as usual.

“On Friday morning when he got back, he found the main door broken,” said the investigating official. “He walked in to find that someone had broken the lock of one of the drawers and stolen the money.”

“The CCTV footage has captured the incident,” said a police official. “Dinesh Kumar has identified the person as Kishore (30), a former employee.”

In another incident, an uniunidentified person stole `12 lakh in cash from a man on Thursday night in Mannady. Ahmed Javed Mohideen (24) who runs a fruits shop in  Koyambedu gave his friend Hakim Sultan `12 lakh to hand over to his partner Mohideen.

“On his way, Sultan parked his bike on the side of the road by a complex and went to recharge his phone in Mannady,” said the investigating official. “He heard the click of the seat and so went to check and saw that the seat was not shut properly. When he opened the flap of the seat, he found the money inside missing.”
