Chennai: Panchayat clerk killed by sibling due to family issue

CHENNAI: A 45-year-old panchayat clerk was allegedly killed by his brother over a family dispute at Uthiramerur on Thursday morning.

Police said K Venkatesan worked as a panchayat clerk at Arasanimangalam in Maruthuvampadi village.
“On Thursday, a fight broke out between Venkatesan and his younger brother Elumalai over a drainage issue at home. In a fit of rage, Elumalai stabbed his brother and escaped,” said police source.

Hearing his screams, Venkatesan’s wife, who was standing outside the house, rushed in and found her husband bleeding.

Neighbours were rushing Venkatesan to hospital, but he succumbed to injuries on the way. Investigation revealed that Elumalai had already had a fight over civil dispute with his brother whom he killed him on Thursday.

Venkatesan’s body was shifted to the Chengalpattu government hospital for autopsy.The Uthiramerur police have registered a case and have launched a hunt for Elumalai.
