Four held over bid to swindle money

The Virugambakkam police arrested four men for conning a man into homosexual relationship and trying to swindle Rs 40,000 from him on Sunday night.

CHENNAI : The Virugambakkam police arrested four men for conning a man into homosexual relationship and trying to swindle Rs 40,000 from him on Sunday night.A police officer from the Virugambakkam station said, “A Manthiramoorthy (24) befriended one Dinesh Babu (30), a gay man from Valasaravakkam, few weeks ago. Understanding Dinesh’s weakness, Manthiramoorthy influenced him to have physical relationship and the duo booked a room in Saligramam near Vadapalani.

On Sunday night, Dinesh and Manthiramoorthy got into the room and once Dinesh removed his clothes, three other men barged into the room and tied Dinesh’s hands and legs. They had taken pictures and threatened to circulate the pictures online. The men demanded Rs 40,000 from him to set him free.”An investigation officer said police acted on a tip off.  The accused were identified as A Manthiramoorthy (24), J Ilayaraja (30), M Mariappan (25) and S Muthu Pandian (26).

Youth arrested for molesting 16-year-old  
Chennai: A man, who had molested a 16-year-old girl for the past one year promising to marry her, was arrested by the Anna Nagar police. P Naveen Kumar (20) from Kilpauk, who was in love with the girl for the past one year, had taken her girl out to various places and misbehaved with her. Based on a complaint lodged by her father at the Anna Nagar All Women Police Station on Friday, the police arrested him at his residence on Sunday. 

Man held for sending obscene videos to kin
Chennai: The police arrested a 32-year-old man, who had sent obscene pictures to a relative of his wife allegedly because he was irritated that his wife had divorced him. The police said that the accused, Vibasu (32), sent obscene videos and photos to the aunt  oh his wife, who had filed for a divorce from him claiming his was impotent. He had also threatened to kill his wife if she did not come back to him, the police said. 

Elderly woman killed,  accused arrested
Chennai: An 84-year-old woman who was beaten with an iron rod by a robber on Friday succumbed to injuries on Monday. The Puzhal police altered the case from robbery to murder. The accused, M Raja (46), a resident of Sri Lankan refugee colony, was known to the woman, S Muthupillai. The police said that Raja attacked the victim with an iron rod when she refused to oblige to his demand for money.
