CHENNAI: A technical glitch forced an Air India flight bound for Delhi carrying 131 passengers and six crew to return to Chennai airport 21 minutes after take-off.

Air Traffic Management General Manager Pradeep Kandoth and airport Director G Chandramouli told Express that there was no report of bird hit and the flight was forced to land after take-off due to a technical glitch in one of the engines. “It was one of the engines that failed forcing the aircraft to land in Chennai within a span of 20 minutes. The pilot did not mention of bird-hit,” the officials said.

An Air India spokesman told Express that as soon as the flight took off around 6.47am, the pilot noticed a technical glitch.
