CHENNAI: If you have registered your property, there is no need to apply in the taluk office for a patta transfer. Now, the registration department has taken up the responsibility of sending applications for transfer of pattas, online, directly to the revenue department. It will also provide an acknowledgement slip from Monday as a proof to the applicant. Inspector-General of Registration J Kumaragurubaran told Express this service has been provided by the department for months, but people were not aware of it.

“They tend to frequent the taluk office and apply again for patta transfer. It is a waste of time. As a result, we have found the need to provide an acknowledgement slip,” he said. Once the acknowledgement slip is given, the applicant can check the status of the application by logging on to www.eservices.tn.gov.in.

The status of patta transfer can also be found through Amma e-service of Land Records mobile app. Applicants can contact 18004251333 if they have any complaints with regard to patta transfer. This comes after the department launched a digital initiative to scan registered documents from 1865 to July 5, 2009 and microfilm them.
